Super Duplex 2507 Mechanical Properties
Below are the general mechanical properties of Super Duplex 2507:
- Tensile Strength: Typically ranging from 750 to 1000 megapascals (MPa) or 109 to 145 ksi.
- Yield Strength: Usually around 550 to 800 MPa or 80 to 116 ksi.
- Elongation: Super Duplex 2507 exhibits an elongation greater than 25%. This characteristic measures the material’s ability to stretch or deform before fracturing, reflecting its ductility.
- Hardness: Generally falling between 250 and 290 Brinell (HB), the hardness of Super Duplex 2507 determines its resistance to indentation or scratching.
- Impact Strength: Super Duplex 2507 can withstand sudden loadings or dynamic forces without fracturing.
What is the difference between SAF 2205 and 2507?
1. SAF 2205 and 2507 are both duplex stainless steel alloys.
2. SAF 2205 consists of 22% chromium, 5% nickel, 3% molybdenum, and 0.17% nitrogen.
3. SAF 2507 contains 4% molybdenum, 25% chromium, 7% nickel, and 0.25% nitrogen.
4. SAF 2507 exhibits higher corrosion resistance, especially against chlorides and seawater.
5. SAF 2507 possesses higher tensile and yield strength compared to SAF 2205.
6. SAF 2507 is typically more expensive than SAF 2205.
